Day 2 was off to a good start Saturday at the 2019 NY2LA Sports Spring Extravaganza. Players hit the courts running and the teams were competing to improve their records in the first real run of the 2019 NY2LA Sports Association. Several hoopers put together strong performances and put themselves on college radars with good efforts and output in Saturday’s contests. Read below for a rundown of some of the day’s best performers and a few who boosted their stock as the league play continues on.

TOP PERFORMERS
BRADLEY CIMPERMAN – 2021 – F – MN SELECT

Cimperman was really good for Select in a game Saturday where he showed excellent hustle, effort and yet patience. He took his opportunities to score as they came, found open shots and finished them, including a 3 early on and again later in the game, and also hit a free throw, tallying 15 points in the game.

BLAKE ELLINGSON – 2021 – SG – KESSEL HEAT
Ellingson had a fine performance for Kessel on Saturday, stringing together a number of nice buckets by being strong with the ball going to the hoop and finishing on the drive and from mid-range areas. Ellingson also proved he has some perimeter skill too by finding an open look from the three-point line and knocking it down, finishing the game with 15 points.

WENDELL GREEN JR – 2020 – PG – MICHIGAN PLAYMAKERS
Green was excellent for his team once again Saturday, as he rolled through with some big time shots and helped his team rout the opponent on his back. He drained 3 treys, got to the hoop and finished much more efficiently and knocked down 6 free throws in the contest, adding up to a sensational 25-point game for the talented lead guard.

REED GUNNINK - 2020 - SG - WI SWING
The 6'4" shooting guard put on a strong display in an early morning win for the Swing. He was outstanding getting behind the defense against the press and then finishing strong against defenders beating down on him. He also showed he could knock down some shots when he got an open look at the rim. Gunnink was tough on the boards as well. He finished with 19 points.

ISAAC HANEY – 2021 – PG – YANDERS LAW
Haney made some outstanding plays for Yanders as they started hot and kept the gas on the pedal throughout the contest to end their Saturday. The young guard prospect got to work really attacking the rim with a variety of great moves, side or euro-step type moves through traffic and then nice rolls with the ball at the hoop, finishing with excellent touch. He has a scorer’s mentality and put it to use Saturday night.

SAM HAESE - 2021 - SG - WI BLIZZARD EMERY
Haese had a strong day shooting the ball, scoring well in a couple games. He was good with the ball in his hands and really found his spots on the floor to score from, knocking down shots from various points in the half-court, and finished their first game Saturday with 18 points. He hit 4 three’s in a later game to account for all 12 of his points in that contest.

DAVID IJADIMBOLA – 2020 – G – MN SELECT
The forward for MN Select really showed he can do some things on the basketball court with his effort on both ends of the floor Saturday. Ijadimbola rebounded with good effort and offensively he was patient and found his opportunities to score, and did a nice job finishing with good touch, or also extending out and hitting a three in the game, finishing with 13 points.

JORDAN JOHNSON – 2021 – PG – WI SWING
Johnson played steady on Day 2, combining with a teammate to carry the scoring load for his team and really put pressure on the defense. Johnson hit a three, got to the free throw line a couple times, and otherwise was finishing shots from close-range, finishing up with a nice 15 points and doing a lot of other work for his team as well with his defense.

DYLAN KUEHL – 2021 – SF – WI SWING
Kuehl had a really solid outing for the Swing in a Saturday game where he played with good aggressiveness and control. He pushed the ball, he drove to the hoop with good patience and yet got to his spots and then finished the shots or lay-ins with good consistency. Kuehl also knocked down a three in the game and ended the game with 18 points to lead his team.

PARKER LAWRENCE - 2021 - PG - WI BLIZZARD EMERY
The young floor general for the Blizzard stepped up big time and was sensational in their final Saturday contest. Lawrence was burying shots all over the place and playing aggressive, under control and still finding teammates for scores as well. He drained 3 trey’s, hit shots in the mid-range and in on the drive and was also able to get to the free throw line by playing with balance on the drive, and then hit 7 of those free throw attempts, leading the way with 28 points in the game.

ZACH LONGUEVILLE – 2021 – G – MN SELECT
Longueville had a solid effort for Select in one of their games on Day 2, as he showed versatility in his game offensively and put a lot of pressure on the opposing defense. He was excellent from the perimeter where he drilled 3 three’s and then also finished inside the arc and got to the free throw line for an and-1 finish, completing the game with 16 points to lead his team.

ISAAC LINDSEY – 2020 – G – WI SWING
Lindsay had a nice game for his team in a solid victory to open their day. The talented guard showed off his outside shooting, he played under control and got to the free throw line where he converted all 5 of his attempts, and then he finished some other baskets as well, completing the game with 15 points.

BRIAN PARZYCH – 2021 – PG – WI SWING
The young swing off guard had himself a nice game by just playing hard and showing some of his skill set. He showed good handle and control with the ball in his hands, especially when on the break and driving down the lane lines, scoring or drawing the contact and going up tough. As a result he got to the free throw line several times and otherwise was finishing with excellent balance and touch. He made 10 free throws in the game and finished it with 20 total points to lead the charge for his team in their victory.

RYAN ROBILLARD – 2021 – SG – WI BLIZZARD EMERY
Robbilard had an excellent shooting performance for the Blizzard early Saturday. The sharp-shooting guard drained 5 three’s in the first half, lighting it up, and then added a couple more buckets and a free throw in the second half, to finish with 20 points to lead the way for his team.

BRENT WOLFF – 2021 – SG – KESSEL HEAT
Wolff came to work ready to roll on Saturday and put together an awesome performance scoring the basketball as a result. The guard prospect was heated from the perimeter, sending 4 three’s through the nets and then also dropped in a couple other baskets en route to a 19-point effort, also having converted a few free throw attempts to contribute to his final tally.

LORENZO WRIGHT – 2020 – PG – MICHIGAN WARRIORS
Wright was solid for his team Saturday as he was really pushing the pace and working for shots. Wright found his opportunities both off the bounce and getting into position to get open looks, and sizzled the nets from the perimeter three times, and also made plays going to the basket. With his control and quickness, Wright also got to the free throw line late and made a pair of free throws down the stretch to end up with 19 points to lead the way for his team.

STOCK BOOSTERS
JUSTIN JOHNSON – 2021 – SF –IL IRISH ELITE

Johnson put together an all-around good effort for his team Saturday, with good play on the defensive end of the floor and then being solid offensively. He finished some nice buckets getting to and around the rim and going up with good touch off the glass often. He finished the game with 10 points.

REID PATTERSON - 2022 - PG - MN SELECT
The young point guard was tough and played with great control, good strength Saturday. He found gaps in the defense to drive through and was strong with the ball in his hands. He found teammates for assists and displayed his own ability to hit shots also.

ALI SABET - 2020 - SG - ALL IN
Sabet played a nicely controlled game for All In and made some tough plays. He was able to get to the basket off the bounce and score attacking the rim, but he also displayed the ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter a bit and create for his teammates.
