MEQUON, Wis. – The NY2LA Sports Spring Extravaganza is in the rearview. After watching games from Friday night to Sunday afternoon here are a ten of the top performers and standouts from this weekend.

PJ Edwards – 2020 – G – Illinois Irish Select
PJ Edwards is a 6-5 lefty who can score in a verity of ways. After his play this weekend he appears to be the next member of the Illinois Irish to use the NY2LA Association as a launching pad for a big summer. The big guard shot the ball well all weekend and should be watched closely the rest of this summer.
Keonte Jones – 2020 -G– WI Premier
Jones plays with a swagger and motor that others quite simply had trouble matching all weekend. He stood out with his defensive intensity on the wing and his play in transition. An excellent rebounder form the wing Jones showed he can play at the next level. He will be someone to watch in July.
Braden Podziemski – 2021 –G/F –WI RAP
WI Rap jumped out a fast 4-0 start in the NY2LA Association. With Gerald Gittens, Shilo Bowles, Aidan Flynn, and James Kelley it’s easy to see why as they are balanced and tough. Podziemski stood out consistently for WI Rap as a young wing who was just consistent. He defended and scored while attacking the lane. I think he is going to be a key player with this group as they try and win the NY2LA Association.
Max Klesmit –2020 – G – WI Blizzard Kuranda
Klesmit had himself one heck of a weekend. The guard from Neenah, WI was consistent off the bounce and shot the ball very well. He has a lot of upside and should be a must watch for many programs in the Midwest and beyond.
Tamin Lipsey– 2022 – G – All Iowa Attack RED
Lipsey is a 2022 guard who looks like a seasoned vet running the show for ALL IOWA Attack. He doesn’t get sped up and physically can handle anything that is thrown at him. He has elite burst and great feel on the court.
Baylor Hebb – 2020 – G – 3D Empire
Baylor Hebb was a name to watch last year on the 16U level of the NY2LA Association and he picked up right where he left off in the 2019 17U Platform. Hebb is intriguing because he can score in a variety of ways. He averaged 28 points thru 4 games and has picked up new offers and interest as a result. Hebb’s game has improved and his effort this weekend made the case for him possibly being the top prospect in the NY2LA Association.
Wendell Green – 2020 –G – Michigan Playmakers
Green has established himself as one of the top guards in the NY2LA Association and his play all weekend backed that up. He was scoring more than he does for prep powerhouse LaLumiere, showing a well-rounded game and earning a few new D1 offers as a result. He is tough to handle off the bounce and can shoot with range and I expect many more offers to come his way.
Caleb McGill – 2020 –F – Colorado Chaos
McGill is a 6-8 forward who has a skill set that is in high demand. He has the toughness you want out of a 4 man and the offensive game to be an integral piece at the next level. Already holding numerous mid to low offers there was a lot of conversation about the way McGill went to work through 4 games last weekend. With skill at a premium it’s easy to see why McGill’s recruitment is picking up.
Hunter Madden – 2020 – AUSA
I always enjoy getting a look at the group from Australia as they consistently have prospects who can help NCAA Programs. Madden is a tough lead guard who was being tracked by quite a few Division 1 programs over the weekend. He can score but also did a good job of getting others involved. The AUSA program has had multiple prospects break out on the NY2LA Association and Madden appears to be next.
Frank Jakubicek – 2020 – F – Quad City Elite
Jakubciek is a big reason why QC Elite jumped out to a 4-0 record in the NY2LA Association. The rugged forward showed he has the skill to score and the motor to compete on the glass. He is one of the BIGS on the association and another standout out of the Quad City Elite program.
