The opening night of Session 2 of the 2019 NY2LA Generation Next Basketball Association saw some strong performances from 6th and 7th graders who took the stage on Friday. Here’s a look at a few that stood out on opening night…

Damajay Richardson – Mac Irvin Fire 12U
Richardson had a good opening game on Friday for Mac Irvin Fire 12U, scoring 11 points and coming up with some big steals late in their overtime win against Closed Gyms. He has a really good handle and was able to attack off the dribble finishing with floaters and finding teammates with some nice drop off passes. Richardson also did a great job of picking up full court on defense.
Elijah Wallace – Quad City Elite 13U
Wallace is a nice young post prospect and scored 15 pts Friday playing with Quad City Elite 13U team. He did a great job of rebounding on both ends of the court and was able to convert offensive boards into put back buckets. Wallace has good footwork and also showed some toughness diving on the floor for loose balls.
TJ Adams – Chapman Basketball 13U
TJ Adams had a solid game for Chapman on opening night of GNBA Session 2. He had a really nice take to the rim where he was able to break down his defender off the bounce and finish in traffic with the left hand. Adams showed a smooth stroke from deep hitting a midrange jumper and knocking down a corner three.
Grayson Young – WI Phenoms 13U
Grayson Young is a very impressive young prospect and flashed his skill set Friday scoring 20 pts for WI Phenoms in their win over Howard Pulley. Young was able to finish at the rim attacking off the dribble in the half court and in transition. He has a nice touch on his jumper and did a good job of using his length on defense and on the glass.
DJ Golden – WI Phenoms 13U
DJ Golden teamed with Young to help lead WI Phenoms to a win on Friday night, scoring 10 pts and running the show from the Point Guard position. He has a really good handle and had some impressive drives to the rim. Golden also knocked down a couple threes and has nice form and release on his jump shot.
Ronald Lee – Howard Pulley 13U
Lee was a bright spot for Howard Pulley in their tough loss to WI Phenoms. He plays with a lot of confidence and has a really good handle. His shots weren’t falling Friday but Lee gets great arch on his jumper with a soft touch and was able to create open looks off the dribble.
Jarvis McNeal – Team Ten Jabari Parker 13U
Jarvis McNeal is an electric young lead guard who thrives attacking the basket. McNeal has a great handle and was able to break down defenders off the bounce and get into the paint where he uses his strength and athleticism to finish in traffic. He also did a good job on defense Friday moving his feet and getting steals without fouling.
Sean Brown – Team Ten Jabari Parker 13U
Sean Brown is tough to handle playing along side McNeal in the backcourt for a loaded Jabari Parker 13U team. Brown has great length which he uses to impact the game defensively and finish over bigger defenders. He is a fluid athlete and had one really impressive sequence Friday getting a steal on one end and the side stepping a defender with a smooth euro step to finish on the break.
