The annual GNBA middle school platform hit the hardwood for its second session earlier this month and the final day saw some strong performances once again at multiple levels. Here’s a look at a few that shined on day 3 in Wisconsin…
Darrin Ames – Mac Irvin Fire 14U
Darrin Ames had the best offensive I have seen at the 8th grade level when he exploded for 52 points on Sunday. A smooth left handed scoring guard, Ames seemingly could not miss from deep, hitting 12 three pointers in Mac Irvin Fire’s big win over WI Premier. He is money off catch and shoot and also has the ability to create his open looks off the dribble and get all the way to the rim and finish.
Ahrman Lewis – WI Dynasty 14U
Lewis had a solid game on Sunday morning for WI Dynasty and continues to be one of the top pure PGs in the 14U division. He has the ball on a string and does a good job of running his team and getting teammates involved. Lewis also showed off his soft touch from outside Sunday knocking down 3 threes and finishing with 11 points.
Chikasi Ofoma – Mac Irvin Fire 14U
Ofoma is an intriguing combo forward and did a little bit of everything for Mac Irvin Fire on Sunday. He is strong and physical at about 6’5 and is able to finish at the rim and grab rebounds in traffic. Ofoma also flashed ability to attack the basket off the dribble – including one really nice sequence where he shot faked, drove baseline and elevated for a big time dunk.
Clevon Easton Jr – WI Premier 12U
After a good showing Saturday, Easton again looked the part of a future big time talent helping lead WI Premier to a win over Ray Allen Select. Even as the tallest player on the court most of the game, he impressed with his shifty handle and is very comfortable playing on the perimeter and is able to grab defensive rebounds and lead the break. Easton also has a great feel and made some passes that you don’t expect from a kid that size at the 12U level.
Simeon Murchinson – WI Phenoms 14U
Simeon Murchinson looks to have a bright future playing with WI Phenoms program and flashed his potential vs Quad City Elite Sunday. He is a great shot blocker and was able to use his long arms to block and alter shots without fouling. Murchinson also did a good job of high pointing rebounds and had one really impressive play skying for an offensive rebound in traffic, keeping the ball high and finishing for a put back bucket.
Chris Davis Jr – WI Premier 12U
Chris Davis Jr also had a solid game playing alongside Clevon Easton for WI Premier 12U. He finished with 10 pts and had some nice finishes at the rim. Davis did a good job of competing on the defensive glass and had a couple impressive help side blocks. He knows how to play and consistently made the right pass finding open teammates offensively.
Aaron Womack – Ray Allen Select 12U
Aaron Womack was a stand out for Ray Allen Select in their tough loss to WI Premier on Sunday. He had some smooth takes to the rim and also has a good touch from outside knocking down a couple of threes. Womack finished with 10 points and a handful of assists.
Eli Roe – Gain Elite 13U
Eli Roe impressed on Sunday for Gain Elite in their win over WI Phenoms finishing with 12 points. He did a really good job defensively protecting the rim and had at least 4 blocks. Roe also has good form and touch hitting a couple of mid range jumpers and found open teammates when help doubled in the post.
Carrington McNeal – Howard Pulley 14U
The first thing you notice watching Carrington McNeal play is his motor and competitive edge as he does whatever is needed to help the team win. He can handle it and made a couple nice passes off the dribble. McNeal also excelled pushing the ball in transition, had some nice finishes and knocked down a three scoring 11 points for Howard Pulley in their win over RAS.
Caden Kirkman – Quad City Elite 14U
Kirkman had a good game for Quad City in their loss to WI Phenoms finishing with 12 points. He has great hands and footwork and was consistently able to grab passes from teammates and finish around the basket. He moves well for his size and did a good job of competing defensively and on the glass even when the game was out of hand.
Milan Momcilovic – WI Phenoms 14U
Milan Momcilovic has the ability to play inside and out for WI Phenoms standing around 6’6 and looks to have some big time upside. He has a nice looking jumper and can hit shots from three and the midrange area. Momcilovic is a fluid athlete and impressed with his ability to grab defensive rebounds and start the break off the dribble.
Quincy Cole – Cream City Chosen 14U
Quincy Cole was had one of the better defensive performances I saw on Sunday for Cream City Chosen 14U. He is a long post prospect and gave offensive players fits blocking everything around the rim and showing good anticipation and quickness getting a couple steals. He runs the floor well and had a nice catch and finish on the break.
