The annual NY2LA Basketball Association wrapped up its fourth installment in stellar fashion earlier this month and once again the gym was filled with college coaches on the sidelines and quality college prospects on the benches. As the final horn sounded the Michigan Playmakers 17U Team captured the top division championship behind the stellar play of 2020 PG Wendell Green Jr.
With that being said here’s a look at the All-NY2LA Association First Team Selections…
2019 NY2LA BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION FIRST TEAM SELECTIONS
MVP – 2020 PG Wendell Green Jr. – La Lumiere (IN) – Michigan Playmakers
A talented and ultra-quick guard who holds multiple D1 offers, Green was among the best at overall impact during the spring session and he simply built on that with an impressive weekend of action during the NY2LA Basketball Association Championships. A tough, skilled, and instinctive floor general, Green helped power the Michigan Playmakers to a 6-0 mark during pool play and bracket play and they captured the 2019 NY2LA Basketball Association 17U Championship in the process.
2020 G Baylor Hebb – Colleyville Heritage (TX) – 3D Empire
Another quality guard that delivered high caliber performances during the spring and summer, Hebb also holds multiple Division 1 offers and he had the highest overall Floor Impact during the spring session. A talented guard with the ability to flip the scoreboard with consistency, Hebb has seen his recruitment set ablaze in July with quality performances during the NY2LA Basketball Association Championships and beyond at various tournaments and camps. He was exceptional this past spring and summer.
2020 F/C Caleb McGill – Grandview (CO) – Colorado Chaos
Another solid Division 1 prospect with multiple offers, McGill was a model of consistency throughout the season as was among the league leaders in Floor Impact, Efficiency, Matrix, and Rebounding during the spring session. He can score at multiple levels, he has nice feel around the basket, and he has the ability to deliver solid double double performances game in and game out. Another solid prospect, McGill had a solid body of work this spring and summer for the Colorado Chaos.
2020 PF Frank Jakubicek – Cary Grove (IL) – Quad City Elite
A nuts and bolts blue collar talent who did a little bit of everything for Quad City Elite, Jakubicek has already verbally committed to Belmont and the talented forward could be a steal for them. He can knock down the jumper, rebound the basketball, and he has the ability to deliver intangibles and effort on both ends of the court. He did all the dirty work for Quad City Elite game in and game out and his performances did not go unnoticed.
2021 SG Brandin Podziemski – St. Johns NW MA (WI) – Wisconsin RAP
One of the top up and coming rising juniors in Wisconsin, Podziemski was solid in the spring and he continued to improve to deliver a number of high caliber consistent performances during the NY2LA Basketball championships before his team bowed out in the final four. A solid athlete with instincts and feel, Brandin has a lights out perimeter stroke and his ability to make shots with consistency and score at multiple levels was impressive throughout the spring and summer.
