The school year is continuing to ramp up with the remaining kids hitting their first day of classes early next week and with the focus primarily on schools trying to close out their 2020 classes, today we take a look into the future with five sleepers in the 2021 class that promise to open some eyes over the next 8-12 months…

Note – Listed in alphabetical order

Maurice Anderson – 6-1 – 2021 – PG – Arbor Preparatory (MI)
A quick and talented guard with an ability to handle the ball and score at multiple levels, Anderson was exceptional at times during the month of July and he looks primed to really take the next step as a prospect.  A solid Division 1 prospect to watch closely, Anderson can fill the box score but his ability to take over a game while scoring or creating is also highly intriguing.  Really has a chance to take a big step forward over the next 8-12 months with hard work.

Isaac Haney – 6-1 – 2021 – PG – Dora HS (MO)
A skilled instinctive guard with feel and an ability to finish at each level, Haney already holds a couple of Division 1 offers and the talented guard really is starting to assert himself as a player to pay close attention to moving forward.  He had a strong spring and summer after a stellar sophomore year and he looks primed for a big junior campaign.  He handles the ball well, he has solid quickness, he can break down guards off the dribble, and he has an excellent perimeter stroke with an ability to knock down the pull up off the dribble and the trey ball in a catch and shoot capacity or off the dribble.  He’s a legitimate Division 1 prospect who should be watched closely by schools as much as possible the next 8-12 months.

Zac Johnson – 6-3 – 2021 – SG – River Falls HS (WI)
A strong left handed sharpshooting guard with an ability to score the basketball in bunches, Johnson had a strong sophomore season and then he followed that up with a stellar spring and summer campaign as well.  Really like his overall feel and ability to impact the game in multiple ways.  A classic sleeper in the truest sense, Johnson has solid athleticism, he can handle the ball, he moves well without the ball, and he’s shown an ability to catch and shoot with consistency and range.  He’s another Division 1 prospect who should get lots of low and mid-major looks from schools who are truly out there grinding.  Look for him to have a big junior campaign…really enjoy watching him play.

Jordan Rice – 5-11 – 2021 – PG – Rock Island (IL)
While everyone is out there looking for 6-3 and 6-4 lead guards, Rice just dominates as a 5-11 one and he does whatever you ask and does it in dominant fashion.  He handles it very well, he can break you down in half court sets, he is solid in transition, and whether its playmaking or knocking down the perimeter jumper he can do that to at a high level.  Generally speaking he’s always in control of the tempo and his decision making is advanced.  He could end up being a steal in the 2021 class as he’s a talented lead guard who is always a positive impact player for his team whenever he’s on the floor.

Omar Zeigler – 6-4 – 2021 – G/F – Martin Luther King (MI)
Equipped with size, athleticism, skill, etc. Zeigler wrapped up a stellar month of July helping his team to the NY2LA Basketball Association championship and the talented forward is only trending upward now.  He rebounds well, he slashes well, he has a perimeter stroke that can be made at each level, and he’s got a lot of grit to him.  Really like his upside and he’s really just scratching the surface of his potential.  One of those will do what you ask type young men, Zeigler is an alpha type on the hardwood and he’s a Division 1 talent that schools need to track closely moving forward.
