In addition to the top performers and stock boosters, here are some talented players that stood out during the Spring Extravaganza with a high level of play and all show a bright future on the hardwood.

Sam Johnson - 2024 - F - All Ohio Red
A tough 6’5” power forward that performed well on both ends of the floor. He has a good motor and really works on the defensive side to lock down opposing big men inside. Johnson knocked down multiple shots in the mid-range with a good jumper as well to scoring it well around the paint through contact.

Carter LaValle - 2024 - F - JH1 Elite
A 6’2” wing forward that showed good versatile scoring ability. He was at his best off the dribble attacking the defense but also was able to knock down a few threes spotting up. He took the ball strong into the paint and was able to finish in traffic. LaValle is a good spot up shooter that made defenses pay when he was given any space.

Roman Shelton - 2024 - G - Illinois Flight
A physical wing guard that is very active on the floor making plays and outworking the opposition. With his energy, he scored inside on multiple put backs. As well, Shelton attacks the basket hard, battling through contact and also showed a nice ability to hit some contested jumpers off the dribble.

Jaylen Smith - 2024 - PF/C - Mac Irvin Fire
A freshman big man with great size at 6’10”. With his size, length, and mobility, Smith can defend the interior incredibly well. He guards opposing big men very well and is a good help defender contesting all shots around the bucket. Smith does a nice job catching the ball inside and finishing strong. A high upside post that college coaches will want to track.

Jehvion Starwood - 2024 - G - Illinois Wolves
A lengthy 6’3” guard that really shined with his distributing ability. He has good all-around skills but really made an impact with his passing ability. He is very quick with the ball attacking, drawing help defenders and then showed good court vision to quickly pass it out to his open teammates. He was always a step ahead of the defense and knew where to go with the ball.
