The Generation Next Basketball Association’s second session saw some excellent basketball played by the young crowd of hoopers (12U-14U) and Sunday was no different. Many of the players were jumping to get back out on the floor and finish their tournament strong, and they put together some really fine performances with exciting shooting displays by a number of youngsters competing.
TOP PERFORMERS
DARIUS ACUFF – 2025 – G – REACH DREAM TEAM
One half of a tough and blitzing backcourt combo, Acuff was all over the court for his team throughout the game Sunday. He was flying up and down in transition, making plays off the ball and with the ball in his hands and saw as the drained 3 triples in the first half as well as putting in some floaters on the baseline/wing area drives and converting some fast break lay-up opportunities, tallying a team-high 20 points in the win for REACH.
LEROY BLYDEN – 2025 – PG – REACH DREAM TEAM
Blyden really excelled using his handles and his sheer quickness up and down the court to consistently and constantly put pressure on the defense to have to try to halt him. They were mostly unsuccessful though as he was able to dribble to the basket several times for score, he knocked down a three-pointer and was otherwise getting to the free throw line because of the defense being on its heels from his quickness and speed to the hoop. He converted 5-of-6 from the free throw line and finished the game with 18 points.
RILEY BROOKS – 2023 – G – WI SWING
Brooks played with excellent control but also good aggressiveness when the ball was in his hands. He went up strong to the hoop and took contact on a few different occasions to make it to the free throw line and finish off 5 points at the line. Brooks finished the game off with 11 points as WI Swing ran away with the win.
SEAN BROWN – 2024 – G/F – TEAM TEN JABARI PARKER
Brown went on the attack offensively early and often for Team Ten. The talented wing prospect used his athleticism and strength to attack the basket and play through contact on several instances to still finish the shots with good touch around the hoop. He was consistent throughout the game and defensively put a lot of pressure on the opponent as well with his strength and quickness. Brown finished the game with an outstanding 17-point effort.
COLE CERTA – 2024 – PG – IL IRISH
The young IL Irish lead guard was up to his usual game Sunday in leading the way for another big win for his team. In the first half, Certa was on target, sizzling the nets for 17 points behind his 3 three’s he cashed in and several other buckets both in the half-court and on the fast break.
KHALID CROCKERHAN – 2023 – G – ALL IN ELITE
Crockerhan finished the event off strong with a nice shooting performance Sunday afternoon. The young guard was scoring in different ways early in the game and finished the first half off with a nice look from beyond the arc to help stretch his team’s lead. In the second half, he drew more attention from the defense but he still got another bucket to go and drained another three-pointer to finish the day with 14 points as All In took the win going home.
VUK DEJKOVICH – 2024 – F – HOOP STARS
The team took a little bit to get rolling Sunday, but as they settled in during the second half they made a little run late which was led by Dejkovich who really put pressure on the opponent and was under control driving and scoring. Early in the game Dejkovich also did some good work and made a couple plays and got to the free throw line also. He ended up scoring 13 points.
DANIEL FREITAG – 2024 – G – TEAM GETSHOOK
While the team was really balanced, Freitag stood out a bit because of his overall scoring and his ability to do it in a couple different ways in Sunday’s game. He was able to score on the attack with the dribble, and also showed he had to be accounted for outside the arc as he drained a three-ball as well. Freitag led his team with 10 points in the victory.
COLE HANSEN – 2023 – SG – WI DYNASTY
Hansen played strong for Dynasty and drew a lot of attention from the opponent’s defense because of his ability to attack the paint and look for a good shot off the drive. He showed good handle and burst off the initial defender and got himself to the free throw line a couple times by being under control on the drive. He also finished a couple plays when going to the hoop and accounted for 10 points in the game.
JOSH HUTCHINSON – 2023 – F – ALL IN ELITE
Hutchinson made some nice plays on both ends of the court for All In throughout the game Sunday afternoon. With good length as a forward and good instincts, Hutchinson caused problems for the opposing offense as he was active with his pressure defensively and came down with some strong rebounds. He got a better feel offensively in the second half and finished plays going to the hoop, accounting for 8 of his 12 points in the second period to help his team to a win.
CAL KLESMIT – 2023 – SG – WI BLIZZARD
Klesmit has been shooting the ball well throughout the GNBA thus far, and that continued on Sunday where he was hot from the three-point line to begin the game for the Blizzard. Klesmit buried 3 three’s and finished off another score, before adding a pair of free throws in the second half and coming away with a 13-point effort in the game.
COOPER KOCH – 2024 – F – IL IRISH
Koch, like his point guard teammate, was also at it again scoring the basketball and impacting the game with his length and activity. He rebounded the ball really well defensively and showed a lot of versatility on offense where he was able to score around the blocks, finish attacking the rim, and also stepped outside the three-point line to drill a trey from the top of the key. Koch had 16 points in the game.
KJ LAMONTE – 2024 – G – QUAD CITY ELITE
LaMonte had it rolling early on for Quad City, doing some good damage in the first half behind his hot shooting and aggressiveness. He drained a pair of three’s, finished 3 of 5 free throws and added another bucket, all in the first half, and then added another score in the second to finish with 13 points in a tough game.
CARTER LEIBHAM – 2024 – G – CHAPMAN BASKETBALL
The young CBB guard was on fire much of the game in leading the way for his team. Leibham ripped the nets for 4 triples throughout the contest. 3 of those three’s came in the first half and the defense started to key on him more in the second, but he still found a couple openings to score there and finished the game with 15 points.
DEHRIO MCCASKILL – 2025 – G – YANDERS LAW
McCaskill had 13 point for his team in a tough game Sunday. The young off-guard though got a bucket to go early, but then heated up a bit in the second half where he torched the nets for 3 three’s and another score to finish it out and lead his team.
JARVIS MCNEAL – 2024 – G – TEAM TEN JABARI PARKER
McNeal played a very solid and steady game from the point guard spot, really putting himself and his teammates in great positions to score from start to finish. He handled the ball really well, was active on the ball defensively and was quick on the drive for his team, constantly penetrating and finding way to get to the rim for short-range finishes on the floater or the lay-in at the bucket. McNeal ended up with 13 points in the game.
TYE PENCE – 2023 – G – IL IRISH
Pence was constantly attacking the basket for the Irish during their later Sunday contest. He used his handles to glide his way to the basket repeatedly and finished off a number of baskets. Pence led his team with 11 points with a few free throws added in the mix as well.
DREW REGNIER – 2024 – F – WI SWING
Regnier had himself a solid outing to finish the event off for the Swing. Showing good balance, good patience and control when going to the basket, Regnier was able to convert several looks at the rim, and otherwise did a nice job drawing the contact and playing through it to get to the free throw line. He made 5 free throws in the game and also made a number of other buckets as he finished with a solid 13 points to lead his team in a big victory.
CAIDEN SUCHY – 2023 – SG – KESSEL HEAT
Suchy lit it up a bit in the final game Kessel this past weekend as went in from the three-point line a few times in the opening half to set the tone for his team. In the second half he didn’t get as clean of looks, but instead was strong with the ball and thus added three more points off free throws and finished the game with 12 points to lead Kessel.
NATE TWOMBLY – 2023 – G/F – WI BLIZZARD
Twombly played a solid game overall on both ends of the floor for the Blizzard. He was engaged and active defensively and rebounding the basketball, but offensively he was also able to make some nice plays around the basket for his team. Twombly also showed some versatility and stepped out for a nice three-pointer and finished the contest with a nice 11 points.
CHRISTIAN UREMOVICH – 2024 – F/C – ALL IN ELITE
Uremovich had an awesome finish to the event for his team by really being aggressive when he got the ball and fighting his way to the rim for points. He was really good around the basket and also showed he can handle the ball some as well, making some nice passes. He scored in bunches and stood out with 20 points as the leading scorer in the game.
