The travel basketball landscape took a much needed trajectory upward last week with the announcement of The Grassroots Basketball Association by The Hoop Group, HoopSeen, and NY2LA Sports. The collaboration and unity of the three largest and most impactful independent travel basketball brands to form this exciting new platform created a needed balance and opportunity for some of the best independent programs in the country to compete against each other and utilize the large networks and reach of all three brands to help promote and advance their player’s respective interests in terms of competition, exposure, and opportunities. This will also provide an opportunity for college coaches and scouts to track and see some of the best independent programs in the country compete in an elite organized setting.
This unparalleled stage of national exposure and opportunity takes another step forward today as we are pleased to announce that The Grassroots Basketball Association in association with the Ohio Basketball brand will host the Grassroots Basketball Summer Championships July 28-August 1, 2021 in Orlando, Florida. This end of summer National Championship platform will offer up divisions for boys 5th grade – 11th grade as well as unsigned seniors and it will feature all three brands collective network of teams competing against each other at the Grassroots Basketball Summer Championships.
The boy’s 9th/15U-11th/17U & Unsigned Senior age groups will play host to the programs and team’s that participate in the NY2LA Basketball Association, the HoopSeen Association, and the Hoop Group Showcase League. The 5th/11U-8th/14U age groups will play host to the team’s that participate in the NY2LA Sports GNBA circuit, the HoopSeen Association, and the Hoop Group Next Gen Middle School League.
The Grassroots Basketball Summer Championships will not only offer up an opportunity for programs to play in an elite high level end of summer national championship for the independent programs, it will also provide programs and teams an opportunity to compete against teams from coast to coast as well as international teams while receiving extensive exposure and legitimate national coverage from The Hoop Group, HoopSeen, and NY2LA Sports brands as well as the other legitimate media in attendance. This exciting opportunity is primed to be the true measuring stick for independent travel programs from coast to coast next summer.
