With teams from around the nation invading downtown Dallas over the weekend, there was plenty of talent on hand and the 15U division was no exception. Here are top performers from the group.
Kuol Atak – 2024 – F – 3D Empire
Even at 6’8” with superior length as a freshman, Atak has plenty of skill to his game. He scored the ball at a high level, hitting three threes in a single game in addition to scoring it around the basket. With his size he can get his shot off at any time and finishes well right over any defender. He already moves well for his size and defended well in the paint as well as the perimeter. A high ceiling player that college coaches will want to track.
Hubert Caliste – 2024 – G/F – LivOn Fleur De Lis
A 6’5” wing with good strength plus a nice all-around skill set. He’s a skilled scorer that can create his own shot with range but also goes strong to the basket and can finish in traffic. He’s a tough matchup as he moves well with the ball but can also use his strength to bully defenders to get in the paint. He also showed he was one of the better rebounders on the floor and has a good passing ability.
Amaru Martin – 2024 – G – Texas Tar Heels
Martin is a quality playmaker that was one of the more impressive guards at the 15U level. He’s a skilled scorer with his ability to hit shots at a high percentage in the mid-range in addition to spotting up from three and getting to the basket, but also distributes it. Even while putting up some big point totals, Martin was an unselfish player the continued to look for his teammates and set them up.
Chris Riddle – 2024 – G/F – Mac Irvin Fire
Throughout multiple games over the weekend, Riddle was playing at a high level. He’s a 6’6” wing with good strength and athleticism plus a nice skill set to have the ability to do a number of things well on the floor. Riddle played well with the ball in his hands running the point but can also play down inside. As well, with all his abilities Riddle locked down both guards and forwards.
Nick Janowski – 2024 – G – Phenom University
Janowski was terrific throughout the weekend to lead his team to a perfect 5-0 mark. The point guard was scoring the ball at a high level throughout but still was able to create for his teammates. He can really put-up points from the outside, knocking down jumpers spotting up or off the dribble at a high percentage. Though he also moves well with the ball and can penetrate the defense and create.
Tye Renfro – 2024 – G – CyFair Elite
Renfro is a smart and efficient point guard that scores it extremely well in a number of ways but is also a good distributor. He did most of his damage attacking the basket but also hit some shots from the mid-range and three. He has a very good passing ability and sees the floor well on the move.
Lathan Sommerville – 2024 – F/C – Meanstreets
A 6’8” big man that has a nice strong build that was dominant inside. He uses his size and strength to simply overpower defenders inside to get good position and then can just finish right through them. Even finishing through double teams at times. While he scored the ball at a high rate of his touches inside, Sommerville can also knock down jumpers from the mid-range.
Antonio Starks-Fewell – 2024 – G – Yanders Law
A high IQ freshman that is a good active point guard on both sides of the ball. He has good handle and moves well with the ball to get plenty of paint touches and create for his teammates. On the other end he is a very tough on ball defender that can pressure the ball well and disrupted the opposing offenses.
TJ Williams – 2024 – G – KC Run GMC
Williams is a lengthy wing guard that played at a high level on both side of the basketball. With his quickness and length, he is a very tough on ball defender that gets all over ball handlers plus is very tough to beat off the dribble. He’s a good slasher that scored it often going to the basket and finishes well there.
