A loaded field for this year's Generation Next Basketball Association Championships hosted talented prospects up and down the board. There was no shortage of action from a deep talented pool of guards at the 14U level where game after game offered up a glimpse into the future. Here's a look at some of the guards who performed at a high level at this year's event…
Graham Junge 6'2 CG The Family
Playing a major role in his team capturing this year's GNBA Championship title, Junge made big plays and smart plays to put his team in position to win in each game. In each phase of the game Junge was a force making plays for others in the half court or in transition, knocking down shots from deep in the clutch, and making plays on defense.
Bryce Heard 6`5 SG Mac Irvin Fire
Leading Mac Irvin Fire 14U to the championship game, Heard played at high level with his ability to knock down shots from the perimeter as well as finish above the rim in traffic. It doesn't take many games to see that Heard has a high level of skill and potential as he possess many of the skills and physical attributes college coaches seek in HM shooting guard prospects with his prototype size and skill set.
Melvin Bell 6'3 SG Meanstreets
Bell was on his "A" game for the GNBA Championship showing great production and potential with his play during Meanstreets run to the Semi-Finals. Bell played with the kind of consistency that demands attention on both sides of the ball. Not only was Bell Meanstreets leading scorer during the tournament, but he also was the team's most consistent defender. Bell set a new bar for himself and others after his game play.
Josh Kazmierczak 6'1 PG Phenom University-Team Herro
Kazmierczak played well during the GNBA Championship helping lead his team to the semifinals. A strong crafty guard, Kazmierczak was consistenly on the attack impacting the game for his team. Kazmierczak is a scoring point guard prospect that fits right in with his slashing and finishing ability adding some toughness to a talented roster.
Xavier Johnson 6'3 SG The Family
One of the most complete performers from the GNBA Championship, Johnson did it all on the way to helping his team capture the 14U title. A skilled shooter with good size and ball skills, Johnson played at a high level for The Family. Johnson has great tools and potential to develop into a high caliber prospect.
Damajay Richardson 5'10 PG Mac Irvin Fire
A prospect who showed a high caliber lead guard skill set, Richardson was one of the top performers during the GNBA Championship. Showing great potential and production, Richardson helped lead the Mac Irvin Fire to the Championship game and might have given them a chance to win if he did not tweak his ankle moments into the Championship game.
Isaiah Robinson 6'1 PG Ray Allen Select
A tough smart floor general, Robinson plays hard and shows great leadership. Able to lead his team to the quarterfinals, Robinson played at a high level showing his great basketball IQ, play making ability and an ability to make his team play better together.
