Every year this NY2LA Futures Camp showcases some of the top freshman, sophomores, and juniors from across the Midwest. Especially for the freshman class there are always a few players to truly emerge, and this year was no different from this talented 2025 class. While there were many freshmen who stood out, here is the first group of the top ones.
Sharod Barnes – 2025 – Orchard Lake St. Mary’s – PG
The freshman was one of the top point guards of the entire camp that contributed well on both ends of the floor. He is a high IQ point guard with an advanced game for just a freshman. Barnes is a skilled playmaker that was able to get into the paint often to create for himself and his teammates. Defensively he has a good ability to pressure the ball with the quickness and really disrupt opposing offenses. The freshman already holds an offer from Eastern Michigan.
Clevon Easton – 2025 – Madison East HS – G
One of the top and most consistent players at the camp while averaging 13.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2 assists per game in addition to excelling on the defensive end. He is a long and athletic wing guard that showed a versatile skill set. The freshman scored the ball very effectively attacking the basket with his explosiveness and nice shifty moves. Easton is a freshman that college coaches will want to be familiar with.
Myles Herro – 2025 – Whitnall HS – PG
Herro had one of the most impressive performances of anyone at the camp. He is a high IQ point guard who reads the floor well plus has great skills playing off the dribble. With his shifty moves, quickness, strong handle, and nice ability to change speeds, Herro is incredibly tough to stick with. He shot the ball extremely well from the perimeter shooting 5-6 from three while also getting into the paint to finish and distribute it out. At times he was just dominant on the floor to win the floor general award.
Jeremiah Johnson – 2025 – Marquette HS – G
An easy pick for this list who had a remarkable performance during the camp. Johnson is an electric guard who showcased a high-level scoring ability. He was able to lead the 2025 class in both points and field goal percentage to win the marksmen award. The freshman was undoubtedly one of the top shooters with a pure jumper at the entire event going a remarkable 10-13 from beyond the arc. He just did not miss when spotting up from the perimeter but also showed the ability to create his own shot as well to getting to the basket.
Trey McKenney – 2025 – Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep – G
Not only was McKenney an all-camp selection but was also the MVP of this 2025 group. For his age, the guard has a very advanced and well-rounded skill set plus good positional size already standing at 6’4” with good strength. He is a smart guard that excels at attacking the basket but was also able to hit some threes. This was all in addition to being one of the top defenders of the entire camp. During the three games he put up a very impressive 15.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals per game to lead his team to an undefeated record. From his performance it is easy to see why he has plenty of high major interest including several offers.
Xzavion Mitchell – 2025 – Oshkosh North HS – G/F
As a 6’7” freshman with a solid build and good length, Mitchell also showed plenty of skill throughout the camp. His abilities have really grown as he made plenty of plays off the dribble, hit a few jumpers, scored it strong around the basket, and defended multiple positions well. This was all in addition to playing with good energy throughout the long day of basketball. Mitchell has continued to show he is one of the top 2025 prospects in the Midwest.
