NY2LA Sports annual Swish N Dish Spring Warm-Up tips off this weekend in Milwaukee and the field is loaded with talent once again this year. In this article we will preview some of the top 17U showcase matchups on Friday night at Homestead, before the event turns to bracket play for Saturday and Sunday.
George Hill All-Indy 17U vs Meanstreets 17U – 8:45 Court 3
6’10 Xavier Booker is one of the hottest 2023 prospects in the country for George Hill All-Indy and just picked up an offer from Juwan Howard and Michigan. Booker and teammate Jalen Hooks will have their hands full in matchup with Meanstreets and 2023 PG Dalen Davis who returns with experience after playing up at the 17U level last year.
MidPro Academy 17U vs The Family 17U – 9:45 Court 3
MidPro Academy may be my favorite to win this event at the 17U level. Iowa Commit Owen Freeman is joined by Brock Harding, Ty Pence and Ethan Kizer to lead a returning core that was one of the best in the country at the 16U level last year, including winning the 2021 NY2LA Association title. A showcase game vs a talented EYBL program in The Family is a great early test for both teams and should be filled with above the rim play.
Phenom University 17U vs Illinois Wolves 17U – 7:45 Court 3
4-star Milan Momcilovic is the headliner for Phenom U, but the matchup to watch in this one will be the perimeter battle between Colin Hardrick (Phenom) and Cam Christie (Illinois Wolves). Christie, the younger brother of Michigan State standout Max Christie, already holds close to 10 high major offers including an offer from Tom Izzo. Colin Hardrick is a player I expect to blow up over the next 6 months and could be one of the hottest names in the Midwest by May.
Team Haliburton 17U vs Illinois Predators 17U – 6:45 Court 3
Team Haliburton features some explosive talent out of Milwaukee including backcourt duo Demarion Burch and Tyran Cook. Burch has as high of an upside as any guard in Wisconsin's 2023 class. Illinois Predators won a lot of games in the NY2LA Association at the 16U level last year and features talented 2025 PG Jaiquan Holman. This will a fun matchup between two of the best independent programs in the Midwest.
