Throughout the GNBA season this spring, Mike Rogers was one of the top point guards on the association. Game after game he displayed his great lead guard skills playing for a deep and highly talented 2027 Chapman Basketball Academy team.
“The spring season with CBA was great. I love playing with my CBA teammates and coaches,” Rogers said about his spring season. While he performed extremely well all spring, Rogers saved his best performance for the end of the season at the GNBA Championships earlier this month. During bracket play of the GNBA championships, Rogers was unstoppable for long stretches in helping his team capture the 14U championship. In the quarterfinals game, he was able to score 17 points in the second half alone in a tight win and then followed that up with 17 points in the semifinals. “Winning GNBA was great too because we lost in the championship last year, so it was good to win it all this year.”
While Rogers can score the ball at a very high rate especially with his shot making ability, there is much more to his game. “My strengths would be being a true point guard, a floor general, and a good shooter. I try to be an extension of the coach on the floor.” For someone still shy of high school, he is a very dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands with advanced point guard skills.
In a couple of months Rogers will start attending Homestead High School to start off his high school career. Some different aspects he wants to improve as he moves up to the high school level include becoming stronger and quicker as well to defensive game.
